Stay.ca.tion: (n.) a vacation spent in one’s hometown rather than abroad involving day
trips to local attractions.
As residents for well over a decade, there is one thing we know for sure… Southern Utah is hands down one of the most beautiful places in the United States. Knowing this makes it easy to book a staycation and explore our own diverse backyard in ways we might not think to do all on our own.
With that being said, let’s talk about Red Mountain Resort. Awarded “Top 100 Spas of America” for the last three consecutive years, Red Mountain Resort is settled on 55 acres in the small town of Ivins, located just 5.6 miles outside of St.George. We believe the views of the red rock canyons and cool desert landscape are unequivocally some of the best this area has to offer!

Along with 82 Desert Oasis rooms and 24 Villa Suites, the property also includes one indoor and two outdoor seasonal swimming pools, three whirlpools, a full gym, and Red Mountain Outfitters clothing and gift store.
Sagestone is also located on the property and is a full-menu spa and salon and can be booked to spend an entire day at with a friend, with a significant other, or just solo. Canyon Breeze, the on-site full restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offers a full bar menu including cocktails, wine, and local beers. Canyon Breeze is open to the public seven days a week and requires reservations for dinner and for Sunday brunch.
Red Mountain Resort also offers hiking trails just right outside your door. Depending on which package you choose, there are daily guided group hikes for every level from entry to confident explorers. À la Carte guests can pay a fee to join and advance sign up is always required as space is limited. We stayed on site and enjoyed the spiral labyrinth in the red sand and spent some time at night with the stars by the outside oversized fire pit.

We played with a few four-legged friends that night and were told Red Mountain Resort has a pet-friendly policy. The Desert Oasis rooms are designated to accommodate your pets for an additional nominal fee, per pet. The fee also includes organic pet treats. Food and water dishes are provided for your pet to use.
Inclusive Retreat guests get three meals at Canyon Breeze Restaurant daily. We ordered burgers and bolognese along with the antioxidant salad, which definitely deserves a mention. The antioxidant salad is thoughtfully made with spinach, kale, and mixed baby greens and includes ripe blueberries, tasty beets, delicious goat cheese and roasted walnuts and lastly topped with turmeric poppy chia seed dressing, it is something we would reorder at every visit. We also enjoyed their freshly made hibiscus iced tea.
Breakfast was buffet style, quick and clean. We loved the outdoor seating on a chilly morning and met a couple traveling all the way from Germany to enjoy the amazing place we happily call Home.
