Almost everyone remembers certain pieces of their childhood, even if it’s through just bits and pieces. The in- vogue term these days is called a ‘core memory’. In speaking with the Catori Team, everyone had a different core memory from childhood. For one it was the all-sibling sleepover on the hot summer weekends that brought a smile to their faces. For others it was the neighborhood playgrounds and the make believe. But for all, they realized that the library was a huge part of their upbringing and a ‘core memory’.
For Shannon Williams, a library clerk at the Santa Clara Library, her love for the library started at a young age. “It’s always been a safe place to explore things I was curious about and learn everything I wanted to, and a place to find answers to questions I had. I have been able to form a deep connection to books. I’ve always found {the library} a special place to be.”
For Shannon, her love of books came full circle. “Now I am here helping people find that love for the library- especially children- that get the excitement and love of books for the first time”.
